Just hours after the global release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, videos surfaced showing the game running on PCs using a demo emulator. One player posted a video on YouTube demonstrating the game in action, though it appeared unstable. The player explained that he used his own copy of the game to extract the files, denying that he was using a pirated version.
The game’s rapid release on PC surprised players, especially since the emulator is still in beta, with many sharing sarcastic comments about the speed of the process. However, running the game this way still relies on emulation, something Nintendo continues to crack down on. Last August, Nintendo removed hundreds of Switch emulator repositories from GitHub due to concerns about illegal game copying. Using an original copy does not mean the emulator is Nintendo’s endorsement.
