VueScan is a program for scanners from HP, Minolta, Nikon, Polaroid, Epson, Canon, and other manufacturers. It supports native color depth. VueScan supports automatic and manual adjustments for most parameters, as well as batch scanning. It supports over 3,000 scanner models, with a bias toward slide scanners—Nikon, Minolta, Polaroid, Microtek, and Epson.
Automatic removal of image defects is provided due to the infrared scanning channel and multi-pass scanning with subsequent averaging of the result to suppress the scanner’s own noise. There are filters for grain suppression, soft masking and removal of a parasitic tint of the original. There are means of manual adjustment of the dynamic range and gradation characteristics (independently for R, G, B channels).
