Audacity 3.7.8

Audacity 3.7.8

Audacity is an easy-to-use audio file editor. It’s used for recording and processing digital files, as well as for digitizing and using legacy audio media like records and cassettes. In addition to its proprietary AUP format, it supports a number of popular extensions.

AUDIO RECORDING
Audacity features include:
• playback of previously recorded audio data;
• recording of streaming broadcasts.
The program works with a mixer built into a personal computer, as well as external audio media:
• microphone;
• a tape recorder, mini-disc player or gramophone record player connected via a line-in.
The program’s capabilities allow you to:
• combine recording and playback modes;
• record up to 16 files simultaneously;
• adjust the volume.

EXPORT-IMPORT OPERATIONS IN AUDACITY
Files supported by the program can be processed as follows:
• embedded in a previously created Audacity project;
• import or export in the following formats: WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, AU;
• in extensions: Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, AU, MP3;
• work with 18 types of files from the libsndfile library;
• open data without headers (raw files);
• create information in the form of AIFF and WAV for audio CDs.
Using encoders, import data into MPEG and export audio to MP3.

AUDIO EDITING
The program features include:
• changing the content and size of a file by cutting, embedding, deleting;
• editing the originally recorded audio track or changes made later;
• fast work with large files;
• mixing and changing the characteristics of audio tracks;
• adjusting the sound (samples);
• smoothing the volume.

IMPROVING QUALITY AND EFFECTS IN AUDACITY
In the editor, you can remove defects from the audio track: hiss, static noise, hum. The program allows you to adjust:
• pitch and tempo;
• frequency settings set by the FFT filter and equalizer;
• compressor volume.
The developers have provided for the integration of effects: rotation, echo, phase vibrato (phaser), dynamic change of timbre (wahwah).
The characteristics that determine the richness of a file’s sound include:
• the ability to select the data bit depth: 16, 24, 32 bit, used for recording and editing the audio signal;
• sampling frequency – up to 96 kHz;
• the use of dithering and resampling algorithms;
• automatic adjustment of the characteristics of different tracks in real time.

Changes in version:
– Fixes broken waveform scrolling and selection for some users introduced in 3.7.6.
